The original hike was commenced by the partnering of the Mission 22 organization, The Town of Naugatuck and The Naugatuck Elks, all who have been instrumental in carrying on the hike each year and have now been joined by many great new organizations and businesses. The hike has grown steadily every year from the original sixty-five hikers, many who have participated every year, and last year reached over Two Hundred Fifty strong. All the money that has been raised with each hike helps veterans in need.
The Mission 22 page has a great deal of information on their work with veterans as well as video and pictures of past events. www.facebook.com/22for22hike
